Dr Wayne Sehmish was born in Brisbane, Australia. He was raised in a home where nobody attended church and as a consequence of that he was completely ignorant of the Gospel message. He attended several government schools as a young man and resided in housing department homes most of his young life. At age 13 he came into contact with a local church group that had come to his area to establish a youth outreach and later an extension church. At this place he first heard the truth about Jesus Christ and whilst resistant at first eventually received Christ as his own Lord and Saviour some six months later on a Christian camp he was attending. He then became a fervent Christian and at that time many of his peers and older friends commented on his zeal and boldness for Christ. He became very active in his local church and won a number of his teenage friends to Christ. At this age his leadership skills were being recognized and he was given more and more responsibility in the various ministries he was involved with. Dr Sehmish reflects on that time with warmness but often comments that he felt his zeal greatly outweighed his knowledge. Upon graduating from high school he did a number of jobs but never feeling any of them was to be his life’s vocation. After finally surrendering to Gods call to preach he began earnest study of the Word of God and was invited to preach and teach more and more. At age 25 he became the Pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Kedron, Australia. Here he learned about many of the practical matters of the ministry and had a great affection for those first people who made up his first flock. Later in July of 1995 Dr Sehmish became the Pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Brisbane Australia. This was to be years of great fruitfulness and blessing. During this time he trained a number of men who have since gone into ministry themselves. Over the last few years Dr Sehmish has been Pastoring as well as teaching and preaching throughout Asia and North America. Those that hear him describe his preaching as simple but insightful. He has a unique ability to enter into the events of the Bible and unlock their practical truths and timeless principals. He is being sought after more and more to preach at various meetings around the world and Dr Sehmish often comments that he does not understand why God has opened the doors before him as He has, but wants to be a faithful steward of every opportunity God gives. He has developed a strong burden for Asia and Thailand in particular. Dr Sehmish believes Asia and the third world needs more missionaries and more resources and seeks to stir men to see the need there and the open doors that await.
