Prayer Letter - April, 2008 PDF Print E-mail

 Dear Pastor & Brethren,

"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:46)

Esau discovered that after the soup was gone he had lost that which he could not regain.  He fatally followed the lead of his flesh and traded his birthright for a meal of pottage.  Hebrews 12 tells us that though he sought this blessing again with tears, it was for him too late …  Those who consume the soup of the world are destined to ever hunger yet never be filled.  But when one has Christ he has all, he is full always; those who know Jesus never hunger and never thirst, He is our all in all, always.

Many here in Bangkok drink daily of the soup of this world only to awake each day hungry and empty again.  We have this past two months been distributing tracts and vcd’s that tell of the true bread of life.  We have traveled to the North East of Thailand where the Isaan people are, and there in smaller towns and regional cities have been on the streets and in the markets giving out materials in the Thai language that we pray will open the eyes and hearts of the Thai people to Christ. Pray that these vcd’s will be used of God to give understanding to the Thais about who God is and what He has done for them. Most Thai people have a vcd player in their home and are glad to receive a vcd for free.  I have been present as they have watched this message called “God’s Story”, and seen the way they are affected.

We have also recently taken into our home another Thai boy who has asked me for help in changing his life.  He has said to me his sin is very great and he knows he will go to Hell for sure if he were to die now.  This boy has come from a broken home, his father has had nine wives, and he was mostly raised by an old lady in his local village.  Since coming to Bangkok Deeo has been involved in drugs, drunkenness and immorality, all this at age nineteen.  He has listened intently to the Gospel, has been coming to church with us and has been witnessed to by Joe who also lives with us and was saved some time ago.  Deeo is not yet saved.  I believe he is very close, yet as we know, being close puts you in the same Hell as being far does.  Please pray for him, that he will be loosed from the drugs and destructive patterns he has been living over the past two years.  Pray that he will be saved and become a trophy of God’s grace and example to other young Thais of what can happen when God saves someone. Please pray that I also would have wisdom in how I deal with him and others like him.  This week I received a phone call from a young girl who has discovered she is pregnant and has been abandoned by the child’s father, asking me for help and advice.  We see the sad results of sin here daily and know that these people can have no hope now, or in the life to come, without Christ.

Our local church here at Lad Prao continues to go well and we ask for your prayers for Pastor Jesada and the people here.  Suzanne has been a great blessing to the church in working with the choir and assisting them with music and instruction and teaching to the ladies.  The Thai people here love being around her and I find joy in seeing her joy and theirs as they work together. Curtis is doing well at school and though he speaks little Thai at home we hear reports of how well he speaks Thai at school.  His cheerful, easy-going personality make him much liked by the Thais.

Thank you for your continued support and prayer.  If you would like to purchase some vcd’s as a project for us to distribute, we can obtain these for 35 cents each.  Let me know if you desire to do that and we will get them copied and in the hands of the Thai people.  Please keep praying for Joe’s growth and protection, and for our family as we labor here in this corner of Christ’s vineyard.  We appreciate you and your sacrifices for the Saviour.

Sincerely,

Wayne Sehmish
