This post from Suzanne:

After a busy start to the year, we can now say Nakhon Sawan is starting to feel more like “home”.  Curtis has mostly settled into school – it has not been an easy transition for him.  His first subject each day is in English, then the rest are all in Thai.  Whilst he sometimes gets bored (when he doesn’t understand), the teachers are very pleased with his performance.  His English subjects are going very well, and his teacher is impressed with his Thai reading and writing, said they are both really improving.  And because all the students speak only Thai on the playground has forced him to communicate in Thai.  He also has made friends with some of the boys in our neighbourhood.  In fact they are usually lingering outside our home any time after five, waiting for Curtis to get home from school.  They are lovely boys, and we are glad for Curtis to have some friends, especially as he was missing his old school and church friends from Bangkok.

Justin is still in Australia.  He is doing some part-time work for one of the men in our home church, and really loves it!  He is currently working through his future plans.  It is not easy working through what you want at that age, and even harder when your family is 5,000 miles away!  So please continue to pray for him.

Sarah arrived on the 31st of January.  She is settling in well – though still finding the Thai food a little hard to stomach at times.  Next week she starts an intensive 2-week TESOL (teaching English as a second language) course in Bangkok.  She is looking forward to the challenges that will entail. She is excited about being here, and is looking forward to helping and being a blessing to the Thai people.

Three days after Sarah arrived, I left her instructions for Curtis and accompanied Wayne to America, where he had a number of speaking engagements.  The first Sunday he preached three services at Pacific Coast Baptist Church in Long Beach, California.  Then the following day he did the Chapel lesson at West Coast Baptist College.  And can you believe – it actually snowed right while we were there!!  We had lunch with Dr Chappell before driving to San Diego where he preached with Dr Gibbs at Pastor Fisher’s annual Leadership Conference.  I thoroughly enjoyed the conference – I had opportunity to meet up with old friends, and make some new ones.  I especially enjoyed the ladies sessions.  It was a time of spiritual input and refreshment for me.

God is continuing to ‘knit together’ our team here.  Deeo and his wife are going ok.  Please continue to pray for them as they grow in the Lord.  Deeo has so many things to learn, so please pray for Wayne as he works with him.  Amnuay and Di are doing very well.  They have a real burden for the lost, and are very passionate about sharing the Gospel at any given opportunity.  A few weeks ago we had a Sunday morning meeting and Bible Study.  Amnuay translated as Wayne taught.  We provided lunch, and after lunch one man expressed a desire to get saved, so Amnuay spent quite an amount of time talking and counseling with him, before leading him to the Lord.  The next time he came, he brought more people, and Amnuay had the privilege of leading five more men to the Lord.

Leaving the same way they came ... all piled in the back of the ute!

I have been keeping busy with the ladies.  I do a Bible study with them most mornings – just teaching basic Bible principles.  The language barrier is always quite a challenge, but I trust despite that the Lord will give them understanding and growth.  They are also keen to learn English – so that means some fun times.  And they LOVE to cook western food.  So we have had cooking lessons also.  Below is a picture of one of them in progress!

Thank you for your interest in our work here.  Please continue to pray that God would clearly guide and direct every step we take.  We want to be effective servants of our Lord and Saviour.                         “For we are labourers together with God: …” – I Cor 3:9a
